A Tribute to Harold Paregien
by Stan Paregien Sr.
With Fathers Day upon us, I thought it appropriate to honor my own father by posting a few photos of him and providing a link to his life story. So here it is.
My father was born in Coleman, Oklahoma in 1912. That was just five years after Oklahoma was admitted to statehood. He died at the age of 68 from lung cancer in 1978 in Fillmore, California. Had he lived to today, he would be 102 years old.
He married my mother, Evelyn Cauthen, in 1940. They had two children, myself and my sister Roberta P. Fournier. I have told his life’s story in an article with lots of photos, which you may find at the following web page:
Harold playing baseball with our son (his first grandchild), Stan (“Gene”) Paregien, Jr.,
in Oklahoma City. Harold was actually a pretty good sandlot baseball player as a youth.
This is a photo of Harold & Evelyn on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
